Bucks vs Celtics Game 2
86-109 Celtics
Series 1-1 tied
The Celtics did exactly what they needed to do in order to get themselves back into this series. While there is something to be said about how good their defense was, only holding the Bucks to 86 points, I believe the more impressive part of last night’s game were the monster performances from Jaylen Brown and Jason Tatum. Scoring a combined 59 points this duo ended up smashing the Bucks defense. The most interesting part about this game was the fact that the Bucks outscored the Celtics 54 to 24 in the paint. The reason that the Bucks still lost this game was because they allowed the Celtics to shoot 46.5% from 3. The Celtics made 20 3 pointers whereas the bucks only made 3 shotting 16.7% from 3. The loss of Khris Middleton can definitely be seen in a game like this. Even though Giannis was able to put up decent stats, without a guy to compliment him and space the floor, the Bucks offense will struggle. Even without Khris I still think that the Bucks have a great shot at winning this series. If just a few more of those threes hit, then this game might have gone a completely different way.

Warriors vs. Grizzlies Game 2
101-106 Grizzlies
Series 1-1 Tied
In an extremely physical encounter between the Warriors and Grizzlies, the Grizzlies were able to take the dub after a spectacular performance from Ja Morant. This was another weird game as the Warriors outscored the Grizzlies 60 to 42 in the paint. In something rarely ever seen, the Warriors shot on 18.4% from 3 going 7/38. However, this could be attributed to the physical nature of the game as Steve Kerr described the Grizzlies play style as “dirty” as opposed to just physical. The Grizzlies still deserve some credit however because even though their second-best player Dillion Brooks was ejected in the first few minutes, they were still able to pull out the win. I believe that this aggressive play style might be the Grizzlies best chance at winning the series because it seemed to put the Warriors into a slump. It is an interesting thing because some people might call in to question the ethics of such a play style. Personally, I think that if the Grizzlies do end up winning this series using a “dirty” playstyle then it will not really be seen as a negative. Aside from Warriors fans, I think that most people would be very impressed if this young Grizzlies team beat the Warriors in any sort of way, regardless of how they did it. It is also worth considering that for years many people and critics have felt like basketball has gotten too soft and it is not as physical as it used to be. Who knows, maybe this is a way to revitalize the physicality of the sport.
