The Good:
Baltimore Ravens:
Picks: S Kyle Hamilton, C Tyler Linderbaum, EDGE David Ojabo, DT Travis Jones, OT Daniel Faalele, CB Jalyn Armour-Davis, TE Charlie Kolar, P Jordan Stout, TE Isaiah Likely, CB Damarion Williams, RB Tyler Badie
The Baltimore Ravens seemed to use the strategy of taking the best player on the board regardless of position and need, and I loved it. I think that this one of the best strategy’s you can do in a draft because it adds great depth to your team, and you never know when one of those guys is going to step up. I think there only weak point was not drafting any receivers as I believe that is the weakest part of their team. However, it seems like most analysts believe that the Ravens are going to try and fill their receiving core in free agency. If that is the case, then the Ravens really hit it out of the park this year in the draft.
New York Jets:
Picks: CB Sauce Gardner, WR Garrett Wilson, EDGE Jermaine Johnson, RB Breece Hall, TE Jeremy Ruckert, OT Max Mitchell, EDGE Micheal Clemons
I am not going to lie I am a little surprised that the Jets had such a great draft as they have had a bad organization for so long, I just assumed they were going to fumble the bag again. However, they did a great job in my opinion getting the best corner and best receiver in the draft class. They also strengthened their RB with Breece Hall and added depth at the o-line and d-line. It is nice to see them go all in on Zach Wilson and get all these great weapons for him. Only time will tell, but I believe that the Jets might make the playoffs next year.
Kansas City Cheifs:
Picks: CB Trent McDuffie, EDGE George Karlaftis, WR Skyy Moore, S Bryan Cook, LB Leo Chenal, CB Joshua Williams, OT/G Darian Kinnard, CB Jaylen Watson, RB Isiah Pacheco, CB Nazeen Johnson
The Chiefs really went all in on addressing their needs, especially in the secondary. Half of their picks were secondary and 7 of their 10 were on the defensive side of the ball. I believe that this shows how much faith they have in Mahomes as a quarterback. To me this is the organization saying that he does not need a bunch of weapons to be a great quarterback, all he needs a defense that will keep him in the game.
The Bad:
Jacksonville Jaguars:
Picks: DT/DE Travon Walker, LB Devin Lloyd, LB Chad Muma, C Luke Fortner, RB Snoop Conner, CB Gregory Junior
I was not a fan of the picks the Jags made especially their first pick. While I believe that Travon Walker will be a good player, I do not believe he was the guy to pick. The #1 overall pick in the draft should be the best player in the draft and that is just not Walker. In my opinion I think they should have traded that pick and gotten more out of it because they still need so much and wasting that pick on a player that they probably could’ve gotten with the 10th pick seems very wasteful.
Washington Commanders:
Picks: WR Jahan Dotson, DT Phidarian Mathis, RB Brian Robinson, S Percy Butler, QB Sam Howell, TE Cole Turner, G Chris Paul, CB Christian Holmes
The Commanders draft plan really just seemed to be to fill in the depth charts however I do not think this was the right move. For teams like the Ravens, it is the right thing to do because they were already a playoffs caliber team. Washington needed to get big play making guys, especially on the offensive side of the ball. I do not feel like their tam got any better after the draft.
New England Patriots:
Picks: G Cole Strange, WR Tyquan Thornton, CB/S Marcus Jones, CB Jack Jones, RB Pierre Strong, QB Bailey Zappe, RB Kevin Harris, DT Sam Roberts, C Chasen Hines, OT Andrew Stueber
The Patriot’s draft was just very… strange. It not a great look when the Sean McVay says he thought that your first-round pick would fall all the way to the third or even fourth round. Drafting a QB is also very weird, and I know people will say that they needed a backup but… just pick up one in free agency. Lots of people will say that it is the genius of Bill Belichick, and we should not question it however Bill has not always had the best track record for drafting players. I guess we will see but for me this was a bad draft for them.
